So this is my portfolio; at last we have liftoff. It's been a long time coming. After spending the last couple of years hurling photos onto Flickr and Tumblr, it finally got to the point that I set this site up. Why now and not before? Well, in honesty Flickr helped with that decision with their changes in contracting and appearance. Not that I am complaining about that exactly (I happen to like the new layout), but the apparent confusion and angst it seemed to cause to many people led me to review what I was doing with my photography. Sites like Flickr and Tumblr are great for social networking in photography, but in terms of being an individualised showcase I realised I was never going to go anywhere. Good sites though they may be, they are a little distracting.
I spent time as well, wondering about my 'product'. Sure I produce photos, but what am I actually showcasing? And to who (or is it whom?)? Sites like Flickr helps you get noticed in the crowd, but it doesn't help you stand out from the crowd. So this is where the portfolio website comes into play.
Me, showcasing my product, which are my photos. Enjoy
