So after an initial flurry of activity I thought I should step back a little, and give the website some breathing space. This gives me the opportunity to reflect with more clarity, and less rush and emotion. A little reflection can go a long way.
I have made some changes to the various galleries; adding a photo here, removing one there. Some photos that looked too similar have been discharged as it was pointed out to me, quite rightly, that there is little need to put similar shots on a portfolio. No one wants to see the same shot over and over.
I played around with the layout, but settled on the one I have with some alterations to the way the pictures are presented on screen. This way they take up less of the screen and become less imposing. In short I've been tidying up.
My next task is to update all the tags, metadata and all those little tweaks here and there. I did get some feedback that the portfolio is Flickr like, but I'm not so sure I agree. The set up is different and this is a presentation of my best work, not all my work. I'm sure as projects develop over time more themes will become apparent, linking the photos, but that is something I can work towards.
I'm sure that there will be more changes I can make over time, but the long and short of it is that I have a portfolio of my best work up and running online.
